Henrico County’s Roundabout Creek Stream Restoration

In 2021, Fluvial Solutions completed 2,800 feet of stream restoration work on Roundabout Creek for the County of Henrico. The project is located downstream of the County’s Reclamation Plant southeast of Richmond, Virginia. Prior to restoration, the stream had a 14-feet deep headcut which resulted in 20-feet tall unstable and eroding stream banks. The erosion was sending sediment-laden water downstream into the James River, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. For the restoration, the channel bottom was raised, the stream was re-meandered through the floodplain and numerous boulder structures were installed to prevent future incision and erosion.
